WHAT IS AN IDE?

1. Codepen

CodePen is an online community for testing and showcasing HTML, CSS and Javascript code. It functions as an online code editor. It is open-source (meaning of open source- denoting software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified), where developers can create code snippets, called "pens," and test them.

 It was founded in 2012 by Alex Vazquez and Tim Sabat. The front-end designer is Chris Coyier.  CodePen is one of the largest communities for web designers and developers to showcase their coding skills, with an estimated 330,000 registered users and 14.16 million monthly visitors.

It is one of the best place's to build, test, and discover front-end code.

JSFiddle is a service for testing and showcasing HTML, CSS and Javascript code. The code snippets are known as 'fiddles'. It allows for simulated calls. In 2019, JSFiddle was ranked the second most popular online IDE.

Replit is a simple yet powerful online IDE, Editor, Compiler, Interpreter, and REPL (read-eval-print loop).
